Town begin season preparations at Carton House before Shelbourne opener
The players will report to the Playford Road training ground in the last week of June to be assessed for fitness after the summer break, with each player taking part in a bleep test.
Mick McCarthy is then taking his players to Carton House in County Kildare for a week’s training before the Shelbourne match, which kicks-off at 3pm.
It’s been a regular base for Mick in his time as Town boss and before he arrived at Portman Road.
“We used to go to Carton House when I was at Wolves,” the boss told the Club website.
“You always get a warm welcome there and the facilities are excellent. It’s a great set-up and ideal for pre-season.
“We have been there each year I have been manager here and the players have always enjoyed it.”
Town beat Shelbourne 6-0 in last season's pre-season opener at Tolka Park.
