MORRIS ON TARGET FOR YOUNG LIONS

10 May 2016

Town youngsters play their part as England U17s record their first European Championships victory

Town striker Ben Morris was on target as England U17s bounced back from an opening day defeat with a 2-0 victory at the European Championships in Azerbaijan.

Morris netted the opener, after being teed up by fellow Blue Andre Dozzell, in Baku as the Young Lions saw off current holders, France having been beaten 2-1 by Sweden in their first group stage game on Friday.

Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson scored England’s second from the penalty spot after he was fouled in the area having been played through by Dozzell.

Goalkeeper, Nick Hayes, who was called up to the squad at the weekend due to an injury to Millwall’s Ryan Sandford, was an unused substitute for the game.

Steve Cooper’s team round off the group stages on Thursday as they face current group leaders Denmark as Town’s trio look to help their side qualify for the knockout stages of the competition.
