Boss praise for departing Jay but a challenge set to Cameron

Jay Tabb will be leaving the Club at the end of the season and Mick McCarthy is expecting Cameron Stewart to move on as well.

Former Reading midfielder Jay, who has been restricted to just cup appearances this season, is out of contract at Portman Road this summer and won’t be offered a new deal.

Having joined the Club from the Royals on loan initially before signing a permanent deal in June 2013, he has made 85 appearances for Town, scoring five goals.

“He’s a great professional, Tabby. He comes in and trains well every day and he’s a great example to any young player,” Town boss Mick told Ipswich Player HD.

“He won’t be with us next season but we wish him well.”

Cameron has not played a League game for Blues since joining in the summer of 2014 and has spent much of this season on loan at Doncaster.

He still has a year left on his contract but Mick is looking for the winger to move on in the summer.

“Cameron is free to join another club. It has not worked out for him here and that’s disappointing obviously,” Mick added.

“I’ve got to take that on the chin personally as well. It was my decision to bring in here but he has also got to do better with his performances.

“We give all the support we can to players but sometimes they have to look at themselves.

“If he doesn’t find another club though, he will be back with us for pre-season.”
