Young Blues defeat Norwich to finish in third place in Playford Road competition whilst Liverpool come out on top overall
Town’s U17’s finished third in a four-team tournament held at Playford Road this weekend.
The Blues defeated East Anglian rivals Norwich City in the third/fourth placed Play-Off, whilst Liverpool defeated Brentford on penalties to come out on top.
The tournament was held over two days, with each game consisting of 45 minutes. Town kicked off the round-robin competition with a 1-1 draw with Liverpool, with Charlie Brown on target for the Blues.
However Town slipped to a 3-0 defeat to Brentford in the following game, before taking on the Canaries to battle for third place.
Norwich took an early lead before Flynn Downes equalised for the Blues from the penalty spot. Luke Woolfenden headed home a Tristan Nydam cross to earn all three points, despite Town ending the clash with 10 men after Charlie Brown was dismissed for two bookings.
Meanwhile Liverpool beat Brentford 4-3 on penalties to claim the title, following a 1-1 draw in normal time.
