You have no chance of winning games if we give goals away like that says Mick

Mick McCarthy said Town paid the price for giving away two shocking goals as Forest left with the points thanks to Britt Assombalonga’s brace.

The striker scored after just 17 seconds and added a second on the stroke of half-time to give the visitors a 2-0 win.

“We made unbelievable errors today to give two goals away,” the Town boss told Ipswich Player HD.

“They were poor, poor goals and you have no chance of winning games if we give goals away like that.

“There were six, seven errors in the second goal and to concede the first one like we did after what was it, 17 seconds. It was an awful start.

“In the second-half, we had a go but you would expect that. They sat in and tried to catch us on the break.

“It’s very frustrating. I’m not sure who I could say off the top of my head played to his absolute potential.

“We could have had a penalty, the second one when Tom Lawrence went through the middle. It looked a stonewaller and it may have given us a lifeline but I’m not going to whinge about it because the two shocking goals we gave away cost us, not that.”
