Hyam sees light at the end of the tunnel after nightmare run

Luke Hyam says there is light at the end of the tunnel now after a nightmare run with injuries.

The midfielder sustained a knee injury in the FA Cup tie against Southampton in January 2015 that kept him out for a year and then had another problem with the nerve in his knee after getting kicked in a pre-season friendly at Cambridge in July that resulted in another operation.

“I am about halfway back after the operation,” Luke told Ipswich Player HD.

“We are taking it week by week at the moment. I have been out since the summer obviously and after what happened last year, being out for 12 months or so with another knee injury, it’s been a nightmare run for me really.

“Having got back playing again in January, I thought I would be able to kick on this season. I worked really hard in the summer and was looking forward to this year and then got a problem in the friendly at Cambridge and I’ve been out since then.

“It’s not been easy but hopefully I’m on the road to recovery now. There is light at the end of the tunnel.”
