Town striker hungry for more goals after bagging his first of 2016/17
Freddie Sears has welcomed the reward for his hard work on the training ground as he opened his account for the season.
The whole squad, including goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski, celebrated with the striker when his 88th minute strike sealed all three points for the Blues against Burton Albion, and is now targeting further goals in Town’s upcoming matches.
“It’s been a long time coming and it’s been a frustrating period for me but you could see how much it meant to everyone,” Freddie told Ipswich Player HD.
"It’s not just me, it’s the players, the fans, the manager and everyone around the club was delighted for me, so hopefully I can get a few more now.
“The most important thing for me was getting up and running for the season, I’m not too bothered about how long it has been.
“It’s been tough but I’ve been putting it in, working hard and the reward has come. I’ve done a lot of work with the gaffer and TC about getting in front of the man which tonight I’ve done that and it’s gone in the back of the net.
“We’ve not been scoring, but we’ve been defensively solid and the last couple of games have been 0-0 or 1-0 so it was a relief when Chambo stepped up and got the first goal but we looked to push on and we did just that.”
