Town midfielder highlights the importance of togetherness in the squad after 0-0 draw with Aston Villa
Jonathan Douglas believes that he and his fellow players have to be united if they’re to help Town push up the table, and he thinks that has been shown in the last couple of games.
The Blues were perhaps unfortunate not to take all three points against Aston Villa, after having two efforts cleared off the line and one striking the post, but Dougie again highlighted the dogged defensive display by the squad.
“The boys at the back protected the ball really well and it’s up to us to do our best in midfield to create a couple of chances,” he told Ipswich Player HD.
“In the last five or six minutes we did that and even in the first half we had a couple of half chances as well so overall we are pleased.
“We know what we have in the dressing room, a great bunch of lads who work really hard for one another and we gel really well on the pitch as well as off it.
“We have a couple of lads that can give you a little bit of magic but we also know you have to dig deep sometimes and I think the last two games have proved that.
“When you see one of their players beat their man, it’s up to you to throw your body on the line because at the end of the day, we all want the same thing, to climb the table, and the only way we’re going to do that is by sticking together.”
