Town defender hoping to kick on after picking up the Man of the Match award in draw with Brighton

Josh Emmanuel is looking to grab the opportunity for first team football with both hands after completing his first 90 minutes of the campaign.

The 19-year old was named Man of the Match as Town were held to a 0-0 draw at Portman Road by Brighton, and the defender hopes he can continue to impress.

"It's always an amazing feeling to play at Portman Road with the crowd behind you," he told Ipswich Player HD.

"I'm grateful to God for the opportunity and you don't want to see anybody get injured, but we're a team that's in it for the long run so hopefully I can push forward.

"Playing alongside Luke Chambers and Christophe Berra helps massively. They keep you on your toes so all you can do is try to learn from them.

"It's a mental game and I just need to be ready whenever I'm called upon. We've got Huddersfield up next and we just have to be ready for every challenge but we believe we have a good squad.

"Those kind of games [against the teams at the top of the league] are what you're here for and why you spend all your life sacrificing to become a footballer so I just need to take my opportunities and keep playing."
