Lawrence and Emmanuel catch boss' eye but injury problems continue with Pits ruled out for 10 weeks

Mick McCarthy was happy enough with the point against high-flying Brighton but Town’s injury woes continued with the news that Brett Pitman is out for 10 weeks.

In a game of few chances, Cole Skuse and Jonas Knudsen came closest to breaking the deadlock in the first-half as Town maintained the unbeaten League run at Portman Road this season.

“It was a fair result against a good side,” the Town boss told Ipswich Player HD.

“It was a solid performance and if you’ve got that and are not conceding goals, then it gives you the platform to build on.

“We’ve had Villa, Norwich and Brighton here and none have beaten us and I expect them all to be in the top six come the end of the season.

“We want to try and play the ball around and have more thrust, be a bit more dynamic and create more chances and we will get there and we will get there if we are solid as a team.

“We have some creative players to come back, Didz, Jonny Williams. Bish as well and some of our players are carrying knocks. The international break will help them and they will be a bit sharper.

“Tom Lawrence was a bright spark for us tonight and Josh Emmanuel was excellent. I was really pleased with him. He defended well and got forward when he could.”

Mick added that none of his injured players will be back for Saturday’s game against Huddersfield with Brett’s ankle injury a lengthy one, saying: “The news from the Grim Reaper this morning wasn’t good. Pits will be out for 10 weeks.”
