Boss happy with strike options but says Blues did target further additions

Mick McCarthy has told the Club website that he will look to add to his squad again in January after having bids turned down for players before the transfer window shut.

Over the last two days Blues have added Jonny Williams and Tom Lawrence on season long loans and Leon Best on a one year deal, with an option of another 12 months on top, with the Town boss in the market for further additions to his squad on deadline day.

“We had bids in for strikers but for one reason or another, they didn’t come off. That happens,” the Town boss told the Club website.

“I’m cool with what we have. We’ve got good players here. Pits [Brett Pitman], Freddie, Leon Best, Varns [Luke Varney]. We’ve got Didz [David McGoldrick] to come back. Tom Lawrence can play up front, Wardy [Grant Ward].

“We have reinvested the money we got for Murph [Daryl Murphy] with the players we have brought in and we will look to add to the squad again in January."
