Music megastar returns in concert at Portman Road next summer
Close on 23,000 were at the home of the Super Blues in June 2004 when the music maestro and former Watford chairman turned on the magic with three hours of his greatest hits.
June 17, 2017 will see his return to Ipswich, as part of his worldwide Wonderful Crazy Night Tour, with Elton taking to the stage to perform songs from his latest studio album, Wonderful Crazy Night, as well as smash hits from his stellar career.
“We are delighted here at the Club to be hosting one of the biggest entertainers in the world in Sir Elton John,” said Town MD, Ian Milne.
“I’m sure it will be a fantastic occasion for the thousands who will be at Portman Road on the night.”
An unmistakable name in the history of popular music, Elton John has done it all – and then some. From being awarded multiple Grammys and BRITs, and even an Oscar and a Tony Award, Elton has proven his universal acclaim.
In addition to selling more than 250 million records worldwide, through his partnership with lyricist Tim Rice, he wrote the music for the feature film and Broadway stage production of The Lion King.
He has over 4,000 performances to his name since launching his first tour in 1970, with Wonderful Crazy Night his 33rd studio album.
Since Elton last appeared at Portman Road, a string of other big names in the music industry have followed in his footsteps including P!nk, R.E.M, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Barry Manilow, Neil Diamond and Rod Stewart.
Tickets for the concert go on general sale from 10am on September 23 but Town season ticket holders and Club members can purchase from 10am on September 21.
