Boss aware of Fulham threat after Boxing Day knockout but says Blues will be ready for the test

Mick McCarthy says Fulham will be in for a different game than the one they had at Portman Road on Boxing Day.

The Cottagers eased to a 2-0 win on the day but Blues have enjoyed a good record at Craven Cottage lately and go there on Saturday backed by big travelling support.

“Fulham were very good at our place but we were hopeless and that helps if the opposition are not very good against you,” the Town boss told Ipswich Player HD.

“We will certainly be different on Saturday. We will press them more. Whether we couldn’t or didn’t do that last time, I don’t know.

“I saw them play Blackburn a while back and they were brilliant in the first-half but didn’t score. Blackburn got at them in the second-half though and played their football as well and in the end they deserved the 2-2 draw.

“Fulham would have gone into the top six if they won that night so maybe they were feeling it a bit.

“There will be pressure on them on Saturday for the same reason, they are just outside the Play-Offs but we’ve got work to do as well. We still need more points to make sure we’re safe.”
