Blues midfielder delighted to be back in action after a frustrating start to the season

Tom Adeyemi admits it was a great feeling to get back out on the pitch again after a disruptive start to life at Portman Road.

The midfielder played just over an hour as Town's U23s defeated Sheffield United at Portman Road last night in his first appearance since joining at the end of June.

"It was nice to finally get back out there and be part of a game again," he told iFollow Ipswich.

"It's been a long time coming and I was looking forward to it so I'm glad I got through it.

"I only had a week of training in pre-season, then I had the illness which seemed to drag on forever and felt like it was never going to go away.

"Then I had the calf issue, but I feel really good now and I've worked really hard with the physios as well as in training so I'm slowly getting my fitness back.

"I am naturally quite fit but at the same time, a lot of my game is based on my ability to get up and down the pitch so if I'm unable to do that it holds me back.

"I have to make sure I'm fully fit but I feel good."
