Boss to play youngsters in Carabao Cup visit to Selhurst Park
Mick McCarthy will field an entirely changed line-up for Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup tie against Crystal Palace.
The Town boss says he has just eight fit first-team players, of which none will start at Selhurst Park with Blues likely to field one of the youngest line-ups in the Club’s history - if not the youngest.
“Bart [Bartosz Bialkowski] took a knock, and Wardy [Grant Ward] has a sore calf, so that’s more added to the list,” Mick told iFollow.
“Didz [David McGoldrick] is with his wife who’s expecting. So he’s with the family as you would expect.
“The regulars need to be ready for the weekend. I can’t afford for another injury or for someone to get sent-off so some of the youngsters will get a chance.
“Hopefully they can look at what Flynn [Downes] and Tristan [Nydam] have achieved. It’s not something they can just emulate but hopefully they will gain confidence from the pair.”
Dean Gerken and Bersant Celina will feature at Selhurst Park, with Mick adding: “If Bersant can show us what he did against Luton then that would be great.”
