Stand-in skipper, Cole Skuse has praised the resolve of Town's makeshift defence after they played a big role in maintaining the Blues' perfect start.

Cole took the armband in Luke Chambers' absence as Mick McCarthy's side started without a recognised centre-back against Brentford, but stood strong to keep a clean sheet as Town made it five wins from five with a 2-0 win at Portman Road.

"It's a credit to the lads and the gaffer who has brought in the right personnel," Skusey told iFollow Ipswich.

"The back four today probably wouldn't have been what you would have started the season with but they were absolutely fantastic.

"Chambo will be a huge miss for us, not just as a captain but in general because he's a fantastic player.

"We can't get carried away now, but we couldn't have asked for a better start to the season, winning every game.

"You need games to keep the momentum going, and we have two games in a week before we can have a break where I'm sure the gaffer and TC will be kind enough to let us have a couple of days off."
