SKIPPER SIDELINED FOR A MONTH

18 August 2017

Blues captain ruled out for a month

Mick McCarthy has confirmed that Luke Chambers will miss a month of action due to an injury suffered at Millwall in midweek.

The skipper suffered a knock in the first-half during 4-3 win at the Den on Tuesday, but played on for the remainder of the 90 minutes.

"It was amazing that he played on, because he did it in the first-half," the boss told iFollow Ipswich.

"The physio was called on and he was slapping the ground so I thought 'he's hurt', but he played on.

"He'll be out for the guts of a month so it'll be after the international break. We'll miss his personality as much as his ability.

"Now it's up to someone to fill his shoes, and they're big ones to fill, but we've got good players that can come in."
