Blues boss gives an injury update ahead of the season opener against Birmingham

Despite a disjointed pre-season, Mick McCarthy is expecting to field a strong line-up for tomorrow's Championship opener against Birmingham City at Portman Road.

The squad have been hit by injuries and illnesses, with new signings, but the boss is confident in the players he has available to face Harry Redknapp's Blues.

"Tom Adeyemi, Emyr Huws haven't really trained, played or contributed yet because of injury and illness," he told iFollow Ipswich.

"Bersant Celina has been poorly, as has Danny Rowe for the past few days. Chambo [Luke Chambers] had his tonsils out and Adam Webster is only just coming back so there's about ten players who have had a really disjointed pre-season.

"We're alright for tomorrow, though and we'll have a good team out."
