TOWN FACE PALACE IN CUP

10 August 2017

Confusion as Blues take on Premier League opposition in Carabao Cup

Town have eventually been drawn away to Crystal Palace in the second round of the Carabao Cup.

Former Palace favourite John Salako and ex Birmingham boss Alex McLeish conducted the draw but there was confusion when Town and the Eagles came out of the hat together.

The tie was originally read out as a home game for Blues but then corrected to a visit to Selhurst Park after the draw was completed.

The game is likely to be played on Tuesday, August 22 but this date has not been confirmed.

Former Town defender Damien Delaney is at Palace, along with ex-Blues’ loanee Jonny Williams. Connor Wickham is sidelined with a cruciate ligament injury.
