Boss hails display as Town maintain Play-Off push
Mick McCarthy was thrilled with the performance from back to front as Town saw off Reading at Portman Road.
First-half goals from Callum Connolly and Joe Garner steered Blues to victory against the Royals with Town just two points off fifth place.
“It was a very good all-round performance and a great result,” the Town boss told iFollow Ipswich.
“We’ve not had too many clean sheets so we were due one but we defended very well against a good team.
“We worked on it on Thursday and Friday, about how to stop the opposition. You have to do that and we know we carry a threat going forward.
“We’ve scored two good goals as well. Callum shoots left and right all the time in training and I said to him a while back, ‘you’ve got a goal in you’ and he’s proved that.
“It’s a great win for us and now we go to Wolves next weekend. That will be a big challenge but we will be ready for it.”
