Didz and Tommy available for Reading but hip concern for 'keeper

Tommy Smith and David McGoldrick are back in the squad for Saturday’s game against Reading but Dean Gerken looks likely to miss out.

Town defender Tommy sustained a calf injury while on international duty with New Zealand in  November but has been training for two weeks, while Didz sustained a bad cut in the 2-2 draw with Sheffield Wednesday.

“It’s a boost having both of them available, obviously,” Town boss Mick McCarthy told iFollow Ipswich.

“Didz is back and Tommy will be in the squad as well. He could be on the bench.

“Gerks has got a problem with his hip though. He missed last week but it looked like he was okay, then he reported in today saying it was giving him some grief.

“It’s a blow but it’s early days. We will investigate and hopefully it won’t be serious. We will wait and see.”

Tom Adeyemi is still sidelined with a hamstring problem while Emyr Huws has been ruled out for the rest of the season after having surgery on his damaged cartilage.
