Kevin may see out the season at Portman Road

Mick McCarthy has hinted that Town’s extensive list of injuries in midfield may see Kevin Bru finish the season at Portman Road.

The Mauritius international was given the green light to find a new club last summer and was close to a transfer deadline day move to Toulouse.

The 29-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has returned to the Town side over the last two months after not being involved at the start of the campaign and the likelihood of him leaving the Club in January could be affected.

“The injuries we have might change our opinion with Kevin,” the Town boss told iFollow Ipswich.

“He is our player to the end of the season and whenever he has played, he has done well.

“Flynn Downes has trained today and Tristan Nydam is scheduled to train on Sunday, so if we can get those two back it will give us a big boost.

“Skusey [Cole Skuse] won’t play against Derby though. He’s been a constant for us and is very durable but I’m not going to risk him for one game. I’d rather wait and have him back for the rest of the fixtures.”

Cole, who sustained a badly bruised foot in the 2-0 win over Reading, is one of eight midfield players currently unavailable .
