And Didz set to return next weekend

Mick McCarthy has confirmed that Joe Garner is back in the matchday squad for Saturday’s visit to Middlesbrough.

The striker has been sidelined with a foot injury since last month’s defeat to Villa, but will make the trip to the Riverside Stadium.

“Joe trained today and he’ll be in the squad with a view to being involved,” Mick told iFollow Ipswich.

“He’s done everything we wanted him to so he’ll be travelling.”

Mick also added that Tommy Smith (calf), Tom Adeyemi (hamstring) and David McGoldrick (cut) are making good progress but midfielder Tristan Nydam has suffered a knock and will miss tomorrow’s game.

“Tommy has been training too but a long trip tomorrow wouldn’t do him any good,” explained the boss.

“Didz (McGoldrick) is doing well and we’re looking at him being back for Reading next Saturday.

“Tristan took a bit of a knock on his hip so he’ll be out tomorrow though.”
