Mick happy with defensive display but looks for improvement in other areas
Mick McCarthy was pleased with the performance but disappointed Blues didn’t capitalise on the opportunities his side had at Molineux.
Ivan Cavaleiro’s excellent goal late in the first-half separated the teams, with Town pressing for an equaliser until the final whistle.
“My team’s performance was very good in terms of the defensive side and limiting them to very few chances,” the Town boss told iFollow Ipswich.
“We blinked again just before half-time though. It was a very good finish mind.
"I was asked if it was a foul in the lead up to the goal and I have seen them given when Jota when shoulder to shoulder with Myles [Kenlock] but my complaint is that it was Myles that ended up on his backside and not Jota.
“They have got some real attacking threat and I think they will go up but Bart [Bialkowski] wasn’t needed to make loads of saves. What disappointed me was we didn’t make enough of the opportunities we had. Even our free-kicks and the corners weren’t the best and that’s not like us.
“We nailed them pretty much tactically in terms of nullifying their attacking threat but we needed to capitalise on the opportunities we had.”
