TOWN U18S 0 QPR 2

2 December 2017

Young Blues fail to take chances

Town were left to rue missed chances as QPR ran out 2-0 winners at Playford Road.

The visitors’ two first-half goals were enough for all three points as Alan Lee’s Blues fell to a second successive home defeat.

Almost 10 minutes in QPR had the lead as Amrit Bonsal McNulty converted from the penalty spot. McNulty was judged to have been tripped but it was unclear which Town player was the culprit in a tangle of legs.

Not even a minute later the visitors should have doubled their advantage as Jardel Francis Adyinka dragged a shot wide from the edge of the area.

McNulty turned provider for the visitors’ second. A precise reverse pass finding Adyinka who finished low into the bottom corner.

Town had two good chances towards the end of the half but were unable to capitalise as Lounes Foudil’s effort was saved before Brett McGavin blazed a free-kick over the crossbar.

The hosts pushed on after the restart and had a handful of good opportunities.

Substitute Thomas Hughes saw his effort blocked and centre-half Corrie Ndaba headed over from a McGavin free-kick.

Skipper McGavin was unlucky in the dying stages as his blistering low drive sailed just wide of QPR ‘keeper Myles Bowman’s left post.
