Hyam delighted to be back in squad and looking forward after dark days of injury

Luke Hyam says he targeted being in the squad for the derby months ago as he recovered from surgery.

The midfielder has not played for the first-team since sustaining a damaged nerve in his leg during pre-season, which eventually resulted in surgery.

He played 90 minutes for the U23s in the win at Palace on Monday as he stepped up his recovery and will be on the team bus that travels to Carrow Road on Sunday.

“There were some dark periods after my injury but I have good people around me, family and friends, everyone at the Club and they have helped me so much,” Luke told the Club website.

“It’s been tough but I’m back now and focused on getting back in the team. I’m just looking forward now.

“It was a target of mine a couple of months ago, to get back and be available for selection for the derby.

“I was in with the fans the last time we played there in the league. I know what the game means to the supporters and it will be great to be there and be around the lads in the dressing-room on matchday again. I’ve missed it.”
