Mick delighted with display and three points as Tom shines again

Mick McCarthy felt Town were well worth the three points after watching Tom Lawrence strike twice in a 3-2 victory over Blackburn.

The Leicester loanee took his goal tally to five in the last three games with a brace to add to Christophe Berra’s goal in Blues’ first win of 2017.

“It was two good goals from Tom and another good performance from him,” the Town boss told Ipswich Player HD.

“He is a really good player and he’s showing that. I have tried to sign him on loan for the last three years and I’m delighted we got him in the end. He has been great for us.

“It was a good performance throughout the team and I think we should have won by more than we did.

“Both goals they scored were avoidable and we threatened to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory but we deserved the win in the end. We played some good football but the most important thing is that we won the game.”
