Mick praise for players and reiterates Lawrence stays after Blues denied win late on

Mick McCarthy was disappointed his side didn’t leave Deepdale with three points but he was delighted with the display.

Another superb goal from Leicester loanee Tom Lawrence looked to have won the game for Blues until Jordan Hugill’s 89th minute equaliser.

“I thought we played really well and I was delighted with the performance,” the Town boss told Ipswich Player HD.

“We didn’t make enough of the chances we had on the break in the second-half but I thought we did enough to have won the game but they got a break at the end.

“It wasn’t offside. McGeady toe-poked the flight of the ball away from us and it fell to Hugill so there is disappointment we haven’t won but it’s a starting point for us.

“It was another fantastic goal from Tom. He has been outstanding for us. There has been interest in him but he’s here on loan until the end of the season.

For him to leave we would have to say yes and that isn’t going to happen. The clubs who are keen on him know that.”

Mick also told Ipswich Player HD of his delight at bringing in winger Danny Rowe from Macclesfield in a deal until 2020.

“He has got pace and he likes to take players on. He can play either side and crosses the ball well. He’s got ability and will give us a different dimension to the way we play. I’m really pleased we have got him.”
