Mick hopes deadline day arrivals can help provide a spark after Rams show their promotion credentials
The Rams were two up inside 11 minutes and former Blue, Darren Bent, added a third on the stroke of half-time to wrap the game up for the visitors.
“It’s flat in the dressing-room, you’d expect that after a 3-0 home defeat. We all need a lift at the moment,” the Town boss told Ipswich Player HD.
“Derby are a good side and don’t need a helping hand but we gave them one with the goals we conceded.
“It was too easy for them for the first one. It’s a great strike from Tom Ince for the second but we should have dealt with it better before he had a shot.
“There was a clear foul on Jonas for the third goal and that made a difference but once that went in, it put the game to bed.
“We are not in the habit of scoring threes and fours so it’s going to be an uphill battle when we defend as we did.”
Town have taken the January arrivals to seven with Wales international Emyr Huws joining on loan from Cardiff until the end of the season, likewise Reading striker Dominic Samuel and Mick hopes the new faces can help lift the dressing-room.
“You can get a spark, a lift from new faces coming here and hopefully the two new lads can help that," added the boss.
“Dominic has had loan spells at Coventry and Gillingham and done well. He scored goals there. He has got pace and youthful enthusiasm.
“Emyr is a good Championship midfielder. He’s got a good left foot and drives forward. They will both be good additions to the squad.”
