Mick content to still be in the cup and not surprised by impressive Imps

Mick McCarthy conceded Town are fortunate to still be in the FA Cup after Tom Lawrence’s brace booked a replay at Sincil Bank.

The Wales international twice cancelled out goals from Theo Robinson, the second coming five minutes from time.

“Lincoln played very well. That didn’t surprise me. They are top of the league and full of confidence,” the Town boss told Ipswich Player HD.

“I can complain bitterly about the two goals we conceded and Lincoln will feel they probably did enough to have won the game. They had everything to gain and they very nearly did gain. We kept going though and that’s the positive out of it, we didn’t lose.

“It was a great atmosphere. Their fans were fantastic and it was a rip-roaring cup tie.

“I played the strongest team I could. We were down to the bare bones and it wasn’t a game to put the kids on from the bench.

“Didz pulled up with a hamstring injury yesterday and he could be out for a couple of weeks at least and Skusey and Chambo have got swelling on the knee and you don’t get that for no reason. We will see how they are, hopefully we can get them back training next week.”
