TOWN AGREE TAYLOR DEAL

26 January 2017

Former Newcastle defender to join Blues for rest of campaign

Mick McCarthy has told the Club website that Town have agreed a deal with Steven Taylor until the end of the season.

The 31-year-old former Newcastle defender has been training with Blues this week after becoming a free agent following the end of his contract with MLS side Portland Timbers.

“He has done fine this week and my intention is to take him. We have agreed to sign him until the end of the season,” the Town boss told Ipswich Player HD.

“He is a good voice in the dressing-room, a good professional and he was a real top centre-back in the Premier League with Newcastle.

“He does a lot of organising on the pitch so I’m delighted that we have agreed something with Steven. It gives us another option at the back and we short there with the injuries we have.”
