Boss has no arguments with result as lack of consistency bites again

Mick McCarthy conceded Lincoln deserved their place in the next round of the cup.

Nathan Arnold’s last minute winner gave the National League side a 1-0 win at Sincil Bank, with Blues well below the level of performance shown in Saturday’s win over Blackburn.

“They were better than us. They deserved it. We were nowhere near the standards we set against Blackburn. I don’t know why,” said the Town boss to Ipswich Player HD.

“We have talked about the lack of consistency and it was there again tonight.

“It was bad goal for us to give away as well. We should have been threatening them from the free-kick. It’s not a good delivery from Tom Lawrence but we had two back and should not concede from there.

“They were better than us. They dominated the second-half. They were good but we let ourselves down, all of us.

“The fans voiced their opinion. I’m not surprised. Some have had enough of me and performances like that galvanise their thoughts.”
