Boss delighted to add a player hitting his prime to his squad

Mick McCarthy says Town have got in Tom Adeyemi a player coming into his prime who can provide a goal threat from midfield.

The 25-year-old has joined the Club as a free agent, signing a two year contract at Portman Road with a year option on top as Blues continue a busy summer in the transfer market.

He joins Jordan Spence, Emyr Huws and Joe Garner as summer arrivals and the boss says he fits the Town bill perfectly.

“Tom is coming into his prime at 25, he has played 220 or so League games so he is very experienced and he showed last season that he carries a goal threat,” Mick told the Club website.

“Some have him down as a holding midfielder but Rotherham gave him license to get forward last season and he benefited from that.

“He scored seven goals from midfield at a team that got relegated. That tells you something about the ability he has got. That’s more than we got from our midfield players last season.

“He has got a lot of attributes and I know there were a lot of clubs interested in him. He comes across as a really good person as well, which is important. He will fit in perfectly for us and I’m delighted we’ve got him.”

Tom will join up with his new team-mates for the training camp in Ireland next week.
