Mick welcomes great addition to the squad in Dominic and says Josh and Town will benefit from his loan move out as well
Mick McCarthy has told the Club website that he is thrilled to have landed Dominic Iorfa on loan for the season.
The 22-year-old, who joins Town from Wolves, was in the England U21 squad that reached the semi-finals of the European Championship recently.
Dominic, an Academy player at Molineux when Mick was first-team manager there, will train with his new team-mates on Monday after completing a medical and the paperwork over the deal this afternoon.
“I’m thrilled to have got Dominic,” the Town boss told www.itfc.co.uk.
“He is an England U21 international who has played close on 100 League games and knows the Championship well.
“He is very athletic, has got great pace and can play at centre-half as well as right-back and is equally good in both roles.
“With the defenders we already have here in the squad and with Dominic coming in, we have really good options in that area.”
The Essex-born player’s arrival at Portman Road has paved the way for Josh Emmanuel to move to League One Rotherham on loan for the season, the Academy graduate joining the Millers yesterday.
“Josh needs to be playing first-team games every week and hopefully he will do that at Rotherham,” added Mick.
“He will gain a lot from the experience and come back to us a better player for it.”
Subscribers to iFollow can watch the first interview with Dominic later this afternoon.
