Dozzell on England duty as U19s win opener

Andre Dozzell played the full 90 minutes as England U19s got off to winning start in the UEFA U19 European Championship in Georgia.

It was the Town midfielder’s first appearance for the national team at the age group.

Goals at the start of either half saw off Bulgaria 2-0 in the Group B opener on a sweltering evening in Tbilisi.

Chelsea’s Mason Mount got the scoreboard rolling with barely a minute on the clock before Ryan Sessegnon of Fulham deservedly doubled that lead three minutes into the second-half.

In difficult conditions with temperatures close to 40c, it was a solid performance from England against a Bulgaria side who had knocked out reigning champions France en-route to the finals.

The Netherlands are next up for the Young Lions in Group B on Thursday (July 6, 2.30pm BST kick-off) at the Mikheil Meskhi Stadium.
