Town find scoring touch in pre-season opener in Ireland
Goals from Brett Pitman, a brace from Freddie Sears, Kieffer Moore and Joe Garner did the damage as the Blues recorded a comfortable win over Drogheda United at United Park.
As has previously been the case in Town's opening pre-season fixture, Mick McCarthy fielded a different XI each half, with a mixture of youth and experience in both.
The Blues started well, and had to wait just under a quarter of an hour to open the scoring, as Pitman superbly curled an effort into the top corner from the edge of the box.
Pitman was to have a role in the next two goals as well, threading Sears through to slot home on 37 before linking up neatly with the former Colchester man to tap home again just three minutes later.
The changes were made at the break with Joe Garner making his first appearance in the Blue of Ipswich, but it was his strike partner, Moore who grabbed Town's fourth goal as he glanced Danny Rowe's cross in off the post.
Garner wasn't to be denied his first for the Club, though, as he lashed home from close range with just minutes to go to get pre-season off to a winning start.
