Mick happy with the work-out following defeat in Kent

Town manager, Mick McCarthy is taking the positives despite a 2-1 loss against Gillingham at Priestfield this afternoon.

It was the Blues' first defeat of pre-season, but the boss was happy for a number of players to get more minutes under their belt, with the majortity playing 70 minutes.

"It was another good work-out, and it was tough playing against 3-5-2," he told iFollow Ipswich.

"How we haven't scored is beyond me in the first-half; they made some good saves and put in some good blocks.

"In the second-half, nothing's happened until we gave a stupid penalty away. Up until then we were the better side which I would expect us to be.

"I saw some good things, and it was good to see Danny Rowe get in the box to get a goal.

"I thought Flynn Downes again was very, very good, but it was just a tough pre-season game."
