Blues edging closer to deal for Wales international and Man City flyer
Mick McCarthy is hopeful that Town can add to the squad with the signings of Emyr Huws in a permanent deal and Bersant Celina on a season long loan.
Wales international Huws became a favourite with the Blue Army following his loan move to Portman Road from Cardiff in January.
He bagged three goals in his time at the Club, including a contender for Goal of the Season in the 3-1 win against Newcastle.
Wide player Celina has played Premier League football for Manchester City. The 20-year-old Kosovo international spent last season on loan at Dutch club, FC Twente.
“Emyr was outstanding for us last season. He was arguably our best player along with Tom Lawrence having come in during January,” the Town boss told iFollow.
“He certainly made us a better team. He scored goals and I’ll remember the one he got against Newcastle for a long time.
“I’m sure the fans will be delighted if we can get him back. Other clubs will be after him I would expect but he enjoyed it here and he’s only 23. There is improvement in him.
“He is a former Man City player and they thought very highly of him. He was different class for us and hopefully we can get the deal done.
“It’s the same with Bersant Celina. He’d been an exciting signing for us.
“Dave Bowman [Town Director of Football] and myself have a good relationship with Brian Marwood and Fergal Harkin there.
“It will be a coup for the Club if it comes off and there is still work to be done on it but we are hopeful.”
