Town to face Birmingham City at Portman Road on opening day of new season

Town will kick off the 2017/18 Championship with a home fixture against Birmingham City on Saturday, August 5th.

The Blues will travel to Barnsley on August 12th in their first away game of the season, before taking on newly-promoted Millwall at The Den on Tuesday, August 15th.

Home clashes against west-London sides Brentford and Fulham wrap up August.

Recently-relegated Sunderland - a former club of boss Mick McCarthy - will visit Portman Road on Tuesday, September 26th, whilst League One Champions, Sheffield United, host Town on Saturday, October 14th.

The eagerly anticipated clashes with East Anglian rivals Norwich are scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 21st (home) and Saturday, February 17th (away). These fixtures could be moved to the Sunday for live TV coverage, as has been the case in recent years.

The festive period sees Town travel to Wolves on December 23rd, before hosting QPR at Portman Road just three days later on Boxing Day.

Derby County are then in Suffolk on December 30th, before Mick McCarthy takes his side to Craven Cottage to face Fulham on New Year's Day.

Aston Villa face Town on Saturday, April 21st at Portman Road before the Blues head to the Madejski Stadium to take on Reading on April 28th, in the final away fixture of the season.

Town will wrap up the season on Sunday May 6th, as they welcome Garry Monk's Middlesbrough to Portman Road.
