Town's 2017/18 campaign takes first steps

The build up to the new season starts today with the players returning to training.

New boys Joe Garner and Jordan Spence were at Playford Road after signing for the Club earlier this month, and joined the rest of the first-team squad as fitness coach Andy Liddell put the players through the first session of pre-season.

Each player was given a fitness programme to follow during the summer before being weighed and then taking part in other fitness tests last Friday.

The players will have a double session today, with circuit training and ball work to follow this afternoon.

David McGoldrick, Andre Dozzell, Tommy Smith and Monty Patterson have been given an extended break because of their commitments at international level.

Tommy has been in Russia over the past week playing for New Zealand in the Confederations Cup and won his 35th cap in their 4-0 defeat by Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal in their final group. Monty remained on the bench.
