Boss backing for Hyam after ankle injury sees him ruled out for three weeks

Mick McCarthy says Luke Hyam will have proved his toughness mentally and physically this season.

The midfielder, who had just returned to the squad after surgery on a damaged nerve in his leg, has now been ruled out after jarring his ankle.

“He rocked his ankle blocking a shot in training and will be out for two or three weeks,” the Town boss told the Club website.

“It’s got nothing to do with his previous injury but it’s still disappointing for Luke and for us.

“He’s been unfortunate with injury over the last year or so but he’s coming through it and will have proved his toughness, both physically and mentally this season.”

Meanwhile Emyr Huws is a doubt for Tuesday’s game against Wolves with a hamstring problem.

“We will see how he is but I won’t be playing him if there is a risk he could make the injury worse and miss six games instead of just the one,” explained Mick.
