Boss: "We need the fans right behind the players. This game is huge"

Mick McCarthy has called on the Town fans to get right behind the players ahead of a ‘huge’ game against Birmingham.

Both clubs sit five points above the drop zone, with Town also hosting relegation threatened Wigan on Tuesday night.

“They are huge games for us,” writes the Town boss in his column in Saturday’s matchday programme.

“It’s a nervy time for a lot of us. We are all suffering, though there are clubs that are worse off than us.

“It’s a mental challenge now as much as a physical one. There is pressure on the players, the staff, the managers but we have to get on with it.

“It’s vital that we all stick together though. We need the supporters to get right behind the players and make it a hostile environment for the opposition.

“Whatever the supporters think about me or anything else that is going on around the Club, the most important thing is staying together and getting the points we need to make sure we’re playing Championship football next season.”
