Emyr back in contention ahead of crucial run of games

Mick McCarthy is delighted to have both Emyr Huws and Cole Skuse at his disposal ahead of a tough run of fixtures, with Town facing five games in 15 days beginning at Hull on Saturday.

Emyr has played three times for the U23s since recovering from an achilles injury, while Cole was forced to depart early with a bruised shin in the 3-0 win over Preston before the international break.

“Cole is fine” Mick told iFollow Ipswich.

“Thankfully it looked far worse than it turned out to be. He’s a durable guy.

“And to have Emyr back in contention is great. We have a big couple of weeks coming up and we’re going to need everyone.

“I think we’ll know a bit more about ourselves after the next five games or so.

“I’m not surprised with how we’re doing so far though as we have good players. More importantly though we have great lads. It’s a squad that gives everything they can on the pitch every week.

“I never question their effort or professionalism and if you have those you have a chance.”
