Garns ready to face his boyhood club for the first time since departing Deepdale

Joe Garner is relishing the chance to play against some familiar faces as he goes up against his former side, and boyhood club, Preston this weekend.

The Town striker was with the Lilywhites for four seasons before leaving for Rangers in 2016, and has fond memories of his time at Deepdale.

“I grew up a Preston fan and it was special to go on and put the shirt on for them,” the 29-year-old said in an interview in Saturday’s matchday programme.

“It was a pleasure to play for the club and I had four good years there. Helping them win promotion to the Championship through the Play-Offs is one of the highlights of my career.

“I still speak to some of the players there and I’m sure the banter will be flying about.

“They have a strong squad so it will be a tough game for us but I’m looking forward to it.”
