Skipper drops in at school to give some good news to a deserving young Blue who will play a part in derby day
The pupils at St John’s Primary School had a surprise visitor yesterday when Luke Chambers popped in to meet one youngster in particular.
Seven year old Bobby Lankester will lead out the teams on Sunday as the Club’s Community Champion and the Town skipper was there to break the news.
Bobby ran 20 miles in a month in aid of Ipswich Hospital, raising almost £500 for the play therapy room at the hospital, where his three-year-old sister Grace has been undergoing many tests this year.
He is an Ipswich fan and the derby will be his first live game.
Chambo was full of praise for the kind-hearted youngster, referring to his efforts as ‘very special.’
“It’s been great to come down and see Bobby, his classmates and his teachers and put a smile on his face,” Luke added.
“Hopefully he’ll enjoy his first game, and we can see him back at Portman Road in the future.”
Bobby will be joined as Community Champion for the Norwich game by Liam Covey, who auctioned off the signed shirt he received from the Club to help raise funds for EACH.
The iFollow cameras were at St John's to watch Chambo make Bobby's day.
