Emyr Huws plays 90 minutes on his return from injury as Town are held by Colchester

A late goal from Colchester United denied Town's U23s all three points at Playford Road this afternoon as Emyr Huws made his return from injury.

Huws, who is yet to play since making his loan switch from Cardiff a permanent one in the summer, played the full 90 minutes as Monty Patterson put the Blues into a second-half lead, before Tommy O'Sullivan levelled late on.

The first-half passed with little goalmouth action, although Ben Folami twice came close, sliding one off target, and having the other well held by the U's keeper.

A mistake from George Fowler at the back allowed Eoin McKeown to go 1-on-1 with Michael Crowe, but he couldn't find a finish, striking his shot off the post.

Town took the lead less than ten minutes after the restart, with Folami excellently sliding the ball through to Patterson who kept his cool to slot into the net.

Folami had another chance to double the Blues' lead, but it took a strong hand from Daniel Wilks to deny him.

It proved to be a vital save for the visitors, as O'Sullivan skipped past a number of tackles before producing a precise finish into the top corner to level things up with little over five minutes remaining.

Level was how it finished, despite both sides pushing for a winner as Gerard Nash's side remain third in the league.
