Five wins in seven is probably beyond our imagination says boss after Skusey and Didz strikes beat Bolton

Mick McCarthy paid tribute to his goalscorers after Town moved to within two points of the top of the table in a win the boss described as huge.

Cole Skuse scored for the second time in Blues’ colours and David McGoldrick sealed the 2-0 victory with a terrific individual effort late on.

“Skusey was brilliant today. He did what he has been doing for how many years he has been here. Terrific. I am really pleased with him,” Mick told iFollow Ipswich.

“Didzy was back to his best as well. It was a great goal from him and it was big win for us, a huge win after two defeats.

“I’m always honest and they were better than us in the first-half. I’ve had to change things around and did that at half-time.

“I put Bersant on and whether that had an immediate effect or not, I don’t know. Maybe it made them think and then we got the early goal.

“We were better in the second-half but when things are going against you, you have to defend and I think that was epitomised when Jordan Spence got back and blocked it when they had a great chance in the second-half.

“I don’t think we are one of the best teams in the league but we are a belligerent bunch and we are scoring goals and when we get the players back that are missing, we will  be better.

“That’s five wins from seven games and we’re in  the top six. We would all take that. It’s probably beyond our imagination.”
