We have goals in us says Mick as he heaps praise on forward play

Mick McCarthy hailed an outstanding attacking performance as Town smashed five goals past Sunderland.

Goals from Martyn Waghorn, Jordan Spence, Bersant Celina, David McGoldrick and Grant Ward took Blues to the top of the Championship goalcharts and back into the top six with a 5-2 win over the Black Cats.

“It was an outstanding attacking performance from us,” the Town boss told i Follow Ipswich.

“We could have had more. Their ‘keeper made some good saves, they blocked two on the line as well.

“They scored two and me being me, I will moan about that but overall it was a terrific performance from us.

“It was great that the goals where shared around as well. The movement was really good from the front four.

“We have goals in the team now. Waggy has added some real quality, Joe Garner has been terrific and Didz is playing as well now as he has done in a long time. He’s fully fit, he’s fully firing, fully focused. Bersant has added something as well.

“It was terrific and now we have got a great game to look forward to again here on Saturday against Bristol City.”

Mick added that Luke Hyam has had surgery on his knee and is expected to be out until the New Year.
