Hamstring injury could force McGoldrick out of World Cup qualifiers
David McGoldrick’s place in the Republic of Ireland squad for their World Cup qualifiers is in doubt after he picked up a hamstring injury in the defeat by Bristol City.
The striker is due to meet up with the Ireland squad next week ahead of their two crucial games against Moldova and Wales.
“He’s tweaked his hamstring,” Town boss Mick McCarthy told the Club website.
“We had to be careful with him as we know the history he has with his hamstring.
“The last thing I need is for him to go and get injured. We need him with the way he’s been playing.
“Ireland will probably want to assess him and it will be a blow for him if he’s not available. But he needs to be fit to play.”
