Swings and roundabouts for Mick as Adeyemi returns but Nydam sustains injury on England duty

Town Boss Mick McCarthy has given an update on the squad’s fitness ahead of Saturday’s trip to QPR.

Tom Adeyemi is expected to feature for the Blues first-team for the first time since his arrival this summer, but defender Tristan Nydam picked up an injury while on International duty.

“Tristan has taken a slight knock while away,” Mick told iFollow Ipswich.

“It’s not a bad one but I don’t think he’ll be available this weekend.

“But Tom has trained really well so he’ll travel to London. It seems just as one is coming back another gets injured.”

New addition Callum Connolly could also make his debut, after a loan arrival from Everton on transfer deadline day.

“Everyone’s impressed with him,” Mick said.

“His attitude is great and I like the way he trains and plays.

“Flexible players are so useful and I’ve always liked players that can do more than one job.

“He’s predominantly a right-back but has also filled in as part of a three for Everton’s U23’s so he’s a good signing.”
